Frequently Asked Questions

wHAT IS Matrescence?

Matrescence is the physical, emotional and psychological transition a person goes through when becoming a mother. Much like adolescence, it’s a profound developmental stage that affects identity, relationships, body and mind. It’s often overloooked in mainstream conversations about motherhood, but recognising it helps mothers feel validated, supported and less alone.

Why was the mother method created?

The Mother Method was created to fill a gap in support for mothers. While there is an abundance of advice on pregnancy and childcare, very little exists to guide mothers through their own transformation. This method was designed to honor the mothers journey, provide practical tools and create space where her well-being is valued and looked after in an accessible and affordable way.

Who is the mother method for?

Although it is designed for mothers with babies 0-18 months, the resources and tools within it are supportive for anyone in the journey of motherhood - whether you are expecting, in the early postnatal stage or navigating later stages of raising children. There is no “too early” or “too late” to start using The Mother Method, whenever you are ready to better understand yourself in motherhood is the perfect time to start.

Does the mother method replace therapy or medical care?

No. While it provides powerful tools for self-discovery and resilience, it is not a substitute for professional medical care or specialised one to one therapy. It can however be a wonderful complement to those support services.

Can I use the mother method if i am not a first time mum?

Absolutely. Each pregnancy and stage of motherhood can bring new challenges and identity shifts. The Mother Method adapts to wherever you are on your journey.
